Job Title: Stainless Steel Fabricator / Welder – Automated Paint Fixtures
Location: Hethel, Norfolk

Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Stainless-Steel Fabricator / Welder to support the manufacture and development of automated paint fixtures. The role involves building high-precision stainless steel structures from CAD designs that are compatible with automated paint systems, ensuring durability, repeatability, and contamination-free operation within a paint environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacture and assemble stainless steel components for automated paint fixtures from CAD models and engineering drawings.
Perform high-quality TIG welding (primary) and MIG welding (secondary) depending on application.
Fabricate fixtures that interface with automated handling systems (e.g., conveyors, robots, carriers).
Ensure all builds meet tight tolerances to guarantee repeatability in automated operations.
Produce smooth, clean finishes to eliminate contamination risks in the paint process.
Carry out fit-up, alignment, and validation of fixture geometry against design intent.
Work closely with design engineers and automation teams to resolve build and functionality issues.
Support prototype builds, trials, and continuous improvement of fixture designs.
Inspect and verify own work to ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards.
Maintain safe working practices and adhere to HSE requirements.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in stainless steel fabrication and welding.
Strong TIG welding skills (essential) with MIG welding experience (desirable/advantageous).
Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and technical specifications.
Experience working to high precision and repeatability standards.
Strong understanding of fabrication techniques: cutting, forming, grinding, polishing.
Knowledge of material behaviour in paint environments (e.g., corrosion resistance, cleanliness).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
High attention to detail with a focus on right-first-time delivery.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience in automated manufacturing or paint shop environments.
Familiarity with robotic/automated fixture systems.
Understanding of jig and fixture design principles.
Experience supporting engineering development builds or NPI (New Product Introduction).
Knowledge of surface finish standards for paint applications.
Quality & Compliance Expectations
Deliver fixtures that ensure consistent part location and repeatability in automation.
Maintain clean welds and finishes to prevent paint defects or contamination.
Ensure all work complies with engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Working Conditions
Workshop-based role with fabrication and welding equipment.
Involvement in prototype and production fixture builds.
Requirement to wear appropriate PPE and follow safety standards.
