As we continue to elevate our capabilities and global presence, we are seeking a Robot Technician to join our dynamic Paint team at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hethel.
This role is fixed twilights -
Twilight shift working hours are 11:00 AM–8:30 PM, Monday to Thursday. If Friday working is required, this will be treated as overtime, with hours from 8:00 AM –2:00AM.
Summary:
The role involves supporting the paint production process for Lotus cars, in the new automated paint facility.
The parts will be painted in the facility using 7-axis paint robots and the role involves continuous improvement of paint application, quality and preventative maintenance tasks and problem-solving application related issues.
The role provides the opportunity to undertake a wide range of tasks and enables the successful candidate to gain experience with continuous improvement, new technologies & improve skills in automation. There will be opportunities to make improvements to the cars business in its day-to-day activities and a chance to influence the way it could operate in the future.
This role could be suited for somebody with a good maintenance background, who is eager to learn robotic paint application.
What you'll do:
· Promote and maintain a healthy, safe, and clean working environment.
· Monitor production vehicles during the paint process, ensuring the correct program and colour options are selected.
· Complete critical TPM and PM activities in line with agreed schedules and frequencies.
· Support Manufacturing Engineering with new colour developments.
· Driving continuous improvement of paint programmes to improve quality.
· Operate and maintain the 7-axis Durr rotary bell robots.
· Completion of autonomous maintenance tasks, to ensure for the efficient operation of the paint application robot cell (i.e., robot cleaning, rotary bells changes, robot cover changes etc.)
· Support the maintenance department with preventative maintenance tasks and breakdowns in the robot cell.
· Conduct and record daily checks of the system parameters (temperature, RH, paint ratios, production data, downdrafts & change logs)
· Optimise quality and paint usage with brush file and programming changes.
· Support the investigation and resolution of paint defects relating to robotic application.
· Support production trials on the paint line.
· Escalate any quality issues to the Supervisor/Manufacturing Engineering
· Back up programmes and brush files
· Support the build of cars during EP, VP, Pilot and SOP phases.
What you'll bring:
Essential:
· Proficient with MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint
· Logical thinker for problem solving.
· Out-going, pro-active team player
· Self -motivated & driven to succeed.
· Positive ‘can do’ attitude, eye for detail, methodical, measured approach and a willingness to learn.
Desirable:
· HNC/ HND Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
· Lean Problem Solving, teach programming experience, 2K paint application, electrostatic paint application experience.
· Advanced MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint skills
· Excellent knowledge of niche vehicle & OEM automotive industries
· Excellent knowledge of electrostatic bell paint application and online/offline programming
