We are currently recruiting General Operatives and Material Coordinators to support a range of manufacturing and production activities within a fast-paced, high-quality environment. These roles offer an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start work immediately and gain valuable experience across assembly, paint, logistics, or material handling operations.
Positions are available on a temporary basis, with opportunities to work across multiple departments depending on business needs.
Summary
As a General Operative or Material Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day production and operational activities. Working as part of a team, you will help ensure components, materials, and products are prepared, moved, assembled, or finished to required quality standards, while contributing to an efficient, safe, and well-organised workplace.
Roles may include:
• Assembly support
• Paint preparation and finishing
• Materials handling and stock movement
• Production line support and general factory operations
What You’ll Do
General Operatives
• Assemble, fit, or prepare component parts and panels using a variety of hand or power tools.
• Inspect, prepare, or rework components following documented processes.
• Support daily production output by meeting quality and quantity targets.
• Assist supervisors and team members in achieving build requirements and covering absences when required.
• Report issues such as shortages, defects, or process concerns to team leaders.
• Follow all operational processes accurately and work within allocated timescales.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE in good working condition.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work across different production areas as needed.
Material Coordinators
• Handle, move, and distribute materials, components, and parts across production areas.
• Ensure accurate stock handling, including booking in/out, stock checks, and material tracking.
• Work closely with logistics and production teams to support continuous workflow.
• Operate manual handling equipment (training provided where necessary).
• Identify and report shortages, discrepancies, or damaged materials.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
What You’ll Bring
For both General Operatives and Material Coordinators:
• Ability to follow written instructions and documented processes.
• Good hand–eye coordination and manual dexterity (for operative roles).
• Ability to work under time constraints while maintaining quality.
• Good communication skills and strong team-working approach.
• Reliable, self-disciplined, and enthusiastic attitude.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing work requirements or shift patterns.
• Good level of physical fitness, with the ability to lift, stand for long periods, and perform manual tasks.
• Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
Desirable experience or qualifications:
• Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, material handling, or similar environments.
• Experience using hand/power tools or manual handling equipment.
• Knowledge of automotive, engineering, or production processes.
• C&G, NVQ, or similar qualifications in automotive, paint, assembly, logistics, or warehouse operations.
• Understanding of Business Improvement Techniques (Level 2 or equivalent).
Additional Information
• Pay: From £12.28 per hour, with potential overtime at enhanced rates.
• Payment: Weekly via an agency (you will be referred for this).
• Contract Type: Temporary, working on a week-by-week basis.
• Duration: Roles expected to run until towards the end of December 2025.
• Start Date: Immediate start
• Eligibility: Candidates must have the right to work in the UK without needing visa sponsorship.
