Legal Counsel - Geely Auto UK
As Legal Counsel you will work with the business to deliver the Company’s purpose providing pragmatic clear advice at all levels and informing decision making.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Counsel:
• Advise on commercial contract negotiations and drafting as well as interpretation of current contracts and termination arrangements.
• Advise on commercial disputes.
• Willingness to support all areas of the team’s overall areas of responsibility for the businesses they serve
• These areas of responsibility include contracting, compliance (including data protection), governance, company secretarial and intellectual property.
• Legal risk analysis based upon a detailed knowledge and understanding of the company’s strategic aims.
• Assimilate information, problem solve, and make informed recommendations, often in limited timescales.
• Input to planning and strategy of the business.
• Horizon scanning for legal updates and changes, including on policy development, legislation, and case law.
• Delivery of training to the business on appropriate topics.
• Development of standard documents, precedents and procedures.
• Instruction, management and control of external legal service providers, including ensuring compliance with budgetary controls.
• Collaborate with Geely legal team and other Geely representatives.
• Respond to requests for information from Geely group.
• Work collaboratively with the other members of the legal team to ensure even work load and best use of the combined skill set.
PRINCIPLE CONTACTS/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
• Report to Senior Legal Counsel.
• The other members of the UK legal team to whom you will provide day to day support.
• Collaborate with Geely legal team and other Geely representatives.
• Colleagues across the business.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Qualified lawyer in law of England and Wales
• Law Society practicing certificate
• Sufficient PQE to conduct the role of approx. 2-4 years PQE
• Commercial contract negotiation and drafting experience
• Strong academic background
• Relevant legal experience for the role
