Head of Business Development - Lotus Engineering
Lotus Cars builds world-class, high-performance and lightweight sports cars that are sold all around the world.
Lotus Cars Limited is the manufacturing site of Lotus in the UK. Here we produce all sportscars types such as the Emira and the Evija. To bring the company to the level we want it to be, we are looking for a Head of Business Development in the Lotus Engineering Department to join us in our manufacturing plant based in Hethel.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Business Development to lead and expand the business development efforts at Lotus Engineering with Lotus Cars Ltd. Lotus Engineering is a renowned third-party engineering company specialising in providing high-quality engineering services.
The ideal candidate will be a results-driven leader with a proven track record in business growth, strategic partnerships, and driving revenue within the engineering sector.
What you'll do:
Business Growth & Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, markets, and revenue streams within the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
- Drive the company’s growth by identifying new potential clients, fostering strategic partnerships, and increasing market share.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers within target industries.
- Understand client needs and offer tailored engineering solutions to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
Market Research & Industry Trends:
- Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, competitors, and market conditions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and technological advancements to offer innovative solutions to clients.
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of business development professionals to meet company targets and growth objectives.
- Provide guidance and training on best practices for sales processes, client management, and negotiation techniques.
Sales & Proposal Oversight:
- Oversee the preparation of proposals, presentations, and bids in response to client requests.
- Manage the negotiation of contracts and close business deals, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Work closely with the engineering and project management teams to ensure seamless execution of projects post-sale.
- Collaborate with marketing to create campaigns and materials that highlight the company’s strengths and capabilities.
Revenue & Performance Metrics:
- Set and achieve revenue growth targets through business development efforts.
- Provide regular reports on business development activities, sales pipeline, and performance to senior management.
What you'll bring:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Significant experience in a business development, sales, or a similar leadership role, with a strong focus on the engineering or manufacturing sectors
- Proven success in driving business growth, securing large contracts, and expanding client bases within the engineering services industry
- Significant experience in an Automotive Engineering Consultancy environment. (desirable)
- Language skills additional to English
- Established senior contacts in the relevant client base

Additional Information:
- This role will be working from our Hethel plant within our flexible working policy
