Principal Engineer – Emissions Type Approval

Lotus Cars Limited is the manufacturing site of Lotus in the UK. Here we produce all sportscars types such as the Emira and the Evija. To bring the company to the level we want it to be, we are looking for a Principal Engineer - Emissions Type Approval in the Type Approval Department, to join us in Hethel or Wellesbourne.
Summary:
Lotus is currently looking to recruit a Principal Engineer – Emissions Type Approval to join our Engineering team on a permanent basis.
The Principal Engineer will be responsible for planning, leading, and participating in the Type Approval of current and future products and homologation related activities, as well as the reporting of such activities, using both informal and formal reports & maintaining reporting requirements.
What You'll Do:
- Plan, lead, and co-ordinate the test preparation for legislative procedures.
- Provide direct support to engineers, technicians, instrumentation groups, etc.
- Provide a lead role in the analysis of gathered data and the preparation of reports.
- Advise on the application of legislative test procedures, to suit the requirements of Lotus Products.
- Liaise with Designers and Engineers, to achieve engineering solutions to legislative compliance issues.
- Liaise with global legislative authorities regarding technical and regulatory information related to vehicles.
- Be responsible for the appropriate distribution of such information.
- Support project planning activities with a high level of technical input and resource planning skills.
- Preparation and submission of reports to government authorities and certification agencies.
- Leading and supporting meetings and presenting relevant information.
- Assisting project managers and engineers from other disciplines, to ensure the delivery of a certified product.
What You'll Bring:
- Automotive Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Proven experience of global Powertrain certification activities, specifically Federal reporting and applications, including AECD
- Global tailpipe and evaporative emissions knowledge
- Knowledge of:
- European Emissions Regulations and Applications
- Federal online submission and/or reporting – EPA, CARB, NHTSA
- Global OBD requirements
- AES/BES/AECD submissions
- Fleet averaging for emissions and CO2/FE/GHG
- Coast down ICE/PEV
- HEV/PEV range testing
- Excellent Legislative compliance experience
- Ability to extract relevant information from complex regulations
- Ability to present relevant information in a concise manner to stake holders
- High levels of attention to detail
- Proven planning and coordination skills
- Demonstrated involvement in product lifecycle planning
