Supplier Development Engineer

Lotus Cars Limited is the manufacturing site of Lotus in the UK. Here we produce all sportscars types such as the Emira and the Evija. To bring the company to the level we want it to be, we are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer in the Supplier, Risk & Development Department to join us in our manufacturing plant based in Hethel or our site in Wellesbourne.
Summary:
Lotus is in an exciting phase of the company's growth, with new models and markets on the horizon. We are seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to support the supplier risk & development function within Lotus.
This involves leading strategic supplier development activities, with respect to production material supply, as well as supporting our Supply Compliance Coordinator.
The role will potentially involve a significant amount of travel, both domestic and international.
What You'll Do:
Supplier Development:
- Develop, release, and manage processes relating to supplier logistics compliance, for example, the management of inbound disturbance, logistics deviation approvals, logistics non-conformance reporting & rectification, cost recovery, as well as leading the mitigation activities of all logistics-based supplier non-compliances.
Supplier Performance:
- Act as a point of escalation for any ad hoc supplier performance issues, in relation to the supply of direct material.
- Cooperate with other departments to resolve delivery issues in a timely manner.
- Perform root cause analysis, both at suppliers and internally, to ensure the continuity of supply.
Supplier Management:
- Represent Lotus across its supply base and maintain healthy business relationships.
- Conduct regular supplier visits and audits, these can be pro-active or reactive events.
Supply Chain / Material Planning Support:
- Interface with other Lotus departments to understand stakeholder concerns, with respect to material supply.
- Be prepared to support the SQA department regarding supplier quality issues.
Supplier Ratings / Sourcing:
- Provide relevant input to support and develop the Supplier Ratings processes.
- Interface with the Lotus Purchasing teams, in supplier nomination and sourcing activities.
Leadership:
- Provide leadership and mentoring to all junior members of the team.
- Work to raise the profile of the Supplier Risk & Development Department, with both internal stakeholders and across the entire supplier base.
What You'll Bring:
- Degree or a similar qualification in Quality, Engineering or a Logistics based discipline.
- Preferred Automotive OEM/Tier 1 SQA or Supply Chain experience.
- Preferred qualification / experience in Supplier Auditing.
- Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of SAP/SRM.
- Familiar with the APQP Process.
- Excellent problem solving skills within an automotive environment, for example, 8D, Six Sigma etc.
- Specific Supplier Development experience in a related industry or 1st tier supplier.

Additional Information:
- This role will be working from our Hethel or Wellesbourne facilities, within our flexible working policy.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in UK without VISA sponsorship.
